The house had the details people buy these homes for — a brick fireplace, bay windows, a multi-lite entry door — and a layout that fought daily use.
The brief
Keep the character. Replace everything that no longer worked: kitchen, baths, laundry, circulation.
What we did
- Built a teal shaker kitchen around an end-grain butcher-block island under lantern pendants.
- Widened the opening between the stair hall and the living room, keeping the original railing detail.
- Restored the brick fireplace with new built-in shelving.
- Finished the primary suite with exposed beams and glass doors to a deck.
- Remodeled the baths: green tile walk-in shower, terrazzo-look shower with terracotta tile, skylit double vanity, and a family bath with patterned floor tile.
Result
An old house that still reads as one — with a kitchen and baths that carry a family.
